Triangle Hits The Pavement To Knock Out AIDS

RALEIGH — A day of hope. A day of promise. Ofsmiling faces, caring hands, and red ribbons that pull the people of theTriangle together for a common cause: AIDS.

Thousands of people together for a one-mile walk through the capitolcity, all to raise money for agencies who help people like Mary Fisher,who live with AIDS.

People of all ages and all backgrounds took the one mile trek. For someit's a symbolic show of help, for others, an important step in raisingawareness.

Despite the weather, there was a good crowd, which, some people say, isan indication of just how important this cause really is.

The money raised during the AIDSWalk is split among five differentAIDS-service organizations.
