Following tradition, the parade was led by the Broughton HighSchool Marching Band, which has been at the head of every RaleighChristmas Parade. The band was joined by 42 floats and 20 moremarching bands. The event lasted about two hours.
It began at the intersection of Hillsborough and St. Mary's Streets. The 1.2 mile route then moved along Hillsborough to Salisbury Street,turned south and finished at Lenoir Street just past the Raleigh CivicCenter.
Sponsors, in addition to WRAL-TV5, were Hudson Belk Co., and theGreater Raleigh Merchants Association.
