No Injuries From Fires in Raleigh, Tarboro

RALEIGH — Two families were left homeless after firespread through an apartment building in Raleigh.

Firefighters say the blaze started in the kitchen of one apartment andspread to another. Investigators say it was difficult to extinguish thefire because flames spread through the building's walls.

Meanwhile, in Tarboro, fire investigators are trying to determine whatsparked a fire late Thursday night. Firefighters quickly responded to analarm from the offices of the North Carolina Natural Gas Company at about22 o'clock.

They were able to contain the fire, but flames left the attic severelydamaged.

There were no injuries in either fire.
