RALEIGH — Two families were left homeless after fire spread through an apartment building in Raleigh.
Firefighters say the blaze started in the kitchen of one apartment and spread to another. Investigators say it was difficult to extinguish the fire because flames spread through the building's walls.
Meanwhile, in Tarboro, fire investigators are trying to determine what sparked a fire late Thursday night. Firefighters quickly responded to an alarm from the offices of the North Carolina Natural Gas Company at about 22 o'clock.
They were able to contain the fire, but flames left the attic severely damaged.
There were no injuries in either fire.
