Woman Hit by Car

RALEIGH — Raleigh police say a woman walked out infront of a moving vehicle at the intersection of Western Boulevard andMethod Road Thursday night. Elandra Peterkin, 32, was hit about 11 p.m.

She was taken to Wake Medical Center, where she was treated for abroken leg.

No charges have been filed against the driver of the Jetta that hither.

Meanwhile, a Fuquay-Varina woman is still recovering at Wake MedicalCenter from serious injuries sustained in a truck-train collision Tuesday.Nina Smith, 71, is listed in critical but stable condition.

Her husband was killed in the accident. Witnesses said the Smiths'truck pulled in front of the Norfolk Southern freight train at anintersection just outside Fuquay-Varina.
