RALEIGH — The 15-year-old Broughton High Schoolstudent who was critically injured when struck by a car September 25 hasbeen released from Wake Medical Center.
Frank Nicholson was walking to school with his sister and a friend whena car driven by William Rice drove onto the sidewalk and struck them,leaving Nicholson with severe head and internal injuries. He has beenhospitalized ever since.
Rice faces a number of charges in connection with the accident,including DWI, possessing a fictitious vehicle registration and not havingliability insurance. Investigators say he refused to take a breath test.
Nicholson has been placed in a rehabilitation center. His currentcondition is unknown.
