Gantt Almost Lost More Than Bid for Senate Seat

CHARLOTTE — Someone apparently wanted to take more away from Harvey Gantt than his desire to serve in the U.S. Senate. Police arrested two men running away from Gantt's campaign headquarters early Wednesday.
The men, identified as Shawn Vallant and his roomate Gamal Jones, were apparently in the process of a burglary. One of the men claimed he had been an intern with the Gantt campaign.
When police checked his apartment they found a VCR and other equipment. The man and his roomate were charged with breaking and entering. One was charged with possession of stolen property.
