Fran Deadline Extended

RALEIGH — The federal government announced Friday that it is extending the deadline for applying for aid from Hurricane Fran's damage.
The new deadline is Wednesday, Dec. 4.
To apply for financial help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) call1-800-462-9029.The hearing impaired may call1-800-462-7585.
The new deadline also applies to people who have already filed an application with FEMA and are now submitting paperwork to the Small Business Administration (SBA) to determine eligibility for home and business loans. The SBA helpline is 1-800-525-0321.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is closing its TREE OFF hotline, as they said they would. The corps will continue to remove trees threatening Triangle homes for the next several weeks, but residents need to have an application on file by 6 p.m. today to qualify.Call 1-888-TREE-OFFfor more information about today's deadline
