RALEIGH — North Carolina State University has plans to build a scaled-down slaughterhouse for teaching and research. The school wants to build the facility at its school of veterinary medicine, located just off Blue Ridge Road.
At least one environmental group is worried about possible odor and waste disposal, but school officials say it won't be a problem because of the facility's small size.
They hope the slaughterhouse will be operational by late 1998.
