ZEBULON — A high-speed chase began around noon Friday in Zebulon. By the time it was over, vehicles representing six different law enforcement agencies had chased the suspect through parts of Wake and Johnston Counties.
It started when Zebulon police tried to stop a suspect who was wanted on drug charges. The suspects car, carrying three people, sped off, with the officer in pursuit.
The chase reached speeds exceeding 100 mph at times, and in Knightdale, the Police chief was forced off the road by the suspect's vehicle. The suspect finally crashed in Northern Johnston County. The suspect then fled on foot into a wooded area where police followed.
All three people in the suspect's car face charges of assaulting an officer along with several other charges.
