HILLSBOROUGH — Two Hillsborough brothers are recovering after being shot early Friday evening at the Daniel Boone Shell Station in Hillsborough.
Investigators say Joe and John Ganim were shot while trying to prevent Jerry Ray, Jr. from attempting suicide.
Witnesses reportedly told investigators that Ray brandished a pistol and threatened to kill himself after mechanics failed to get his car started. The witnesses say shots rang out after the Ganim brothers approached Ray to keep him from killing himself.
Joe Ganim is in serious condition. His brother was released from UNC Hospital Sunday night.
Ray is charged with two counts of attempted murder.
