RALEIGH — Right now, it looks like, well, a construction site, and that's exactly what it is. But within a few days, it will look like the North Carolina State Fair.
The midway rides arrived Tuesday, in pieces, and will be constructed, inspected and ready to create thrills by this Friday when the fair opens to the public.
Jeff McCracken is a newcomer when it comes to assembling the annual event. He says he had no idea how much was involved in putting it all together.
Inspectors will be making the rounds Thursday after all the rides have been built.
Everything is expected to be up and safely running by Friday morning.
