Autopsy Completed on Beaten Three-Year-Old

FAYETTEVILLE — More disturbing details surroundingthe death of a 3-year-old Cumberland County boy came to light when resultsof his autopsy were released Thursday.

When deputies found Charlie Bradshaw dead in the bathroom of his Gray'sCreek home Monday, they believed he was beaten to death. The autopsyappeared to confirm that, and identified the murder weapons as a hammerand one other object which has yet to be found.

Bradshaw's mother, Sharon, has been charged with murder. Her two othersons, ages 5 and 8, were in the home at the time of the beating, andtelephoned for assistance saying their mother needed help.

Sharon Bradshaw's mental condition is being evaluated at Dorothea DixHospital in Raleigh.

Another Cumberland County boy allegedly beaten by his mother and herboyfriend, died Thursday afternoon after spending a week in a coma.

The beating was reported to the sheriff's department last Wednesday.The 18-month-old boy's mother, Tamara Melvin, and her boyfriend, StevenFranklin, are in custody. They had been charged with child abuse, and wereunder $25,000 bond.

Other charges are expected now that the child has died.
