Truckers Come to Help, but Find Only Confusion

KNIGHTDALE — Most Triangle residents have experienced at leastsomeconfusion resulting from Hurricane Fran, but some truck drivers from Miami had no idea what they were getting into when they came to help.
Forty trucks have been in the parking lot at Baham's Restaurant in Knightdale since Saturday, when the drivers arrived thinking they would be helping with the post-hurricane clean-up operation. Since then, they've found themselves caught in the midst of some crossed wires, not the ones hanging from Triangle trees, but others between disputing contractors.
Driver Jaime Lorenzo says it's been a strange and uncomfortable situation.
Restaurant owner Baham says he couldn't just let these guys suffer when they came with good intentions.
When the red tape gets untangled, sources say the truckers will be sent to Wilmington to assist with clean-up efforts there.
