Second Brother's Trial Begins in Food Lion Case

Robert McNeil, who is already serving a 23-year sentence for robbinga different Food Lion store in 1993, could join his brother Elmer Ray ondeath row if he is convicted of participating in the murder twosupermarket employees in 1993.

Elmer Ray McNeil, 25, is expected to testify for the prosecution duringthe trial. Testimony alone is expected to last for at least six weeks.

Michael Truelove and John Ray, both employed at the Food Lion in North Raleigh at Six Forks and Strickland Roads, were closing the store for thenight when they were shot in the back of their heads by intruders.
