Raleigh, N.C. — The Wake County Sheriff's Office confirmed that a 22-year-old man drowned at Silver Lake Waterpark Saturday evening.
Cary Area Emergency Medical Services and Raleigh police responded to calls about a reported drowning at the water park shortly before 6 p.m.
Darryl Jermelle Anderson, of 5705 Panhill Way in Raleigh, was pulled from the water, and EMS personnel attempted to resuscitate him.
Anderson's sister said she believes that he may have had an asthma attack.
Anderson was transferred to WakeMed, where he was pronounced dead.
Family members said that Anderson, who was engaged, was a guy who liked to make people laugh. Relatives said they plan to hold the funeral and burial in Connecticut, where Anderson is from.
Silver Lake Waterpark is on Tryon Road, just outside the Raleigh city limits.
