Cumberland County To Get More Crossing Guards

Posted October 2, 2001

— Parents in Cumberland County have won at least part of a budget battle. Sheriff Moose Butler is adding an additional 16 crossing guards.

Due to financial constraints, Butler had to cut most of the crossing guards from his budget last year.

The sheriff says that because of complaints and the need for some guards at busy intersections, he will buy fewer vehicles and less equipment to pay for the added staff.
