RALEIGH, N.C. — If the
North Carolina Museum of Art's
new plans take off, you can have a stroll through an art gallery, a meeting place for people and a walk in the park in one place.
The museum plans an expansion that will add another 200,000 feet of gallery space. The new building will include lots of light, art and nature.
The new architect, Fipher, calls it a unique design.
"We want to make a diaphanous building that relates art, people and the park together in one cluster of experiences," he said.
The board needs to raise more than $75 million for the project to take place. The museum does not expect have a finished building until at least 2006.
