Rocky Mount-Wilson Airport To Offer Shuttle Service To RDU International

Posted Updated

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Rocky Mount-Wilson Airport is now offering a shuttle service to get travelers to and from RDU International.

With six round trips daily between Rocky Mount-Wilson Regional Airport and Raleigh-Durham International, area travelers can now board one of two 14-passenger vans and leave the driving to a professional team of drivers.

The new service, called RWI Airport Shuttle Express, began September 20 and will help passengers save time and money getting to and from the RDU without the usual stress of driving or worrying about the parking restrictions.

"The mission of the Rocky Mount-Wilson Regional Airport Authority is to provide area travelers with access to air travel, so we did some creative thinking and came up with the shuttle idea," said Hans Hess, RWI Airport Manager. "It's caught the imagination and enthusiasm of everyone who has heard of this plan. We decided that if we couldn't get air service directly into RWI at this time, we could at least give our flying public easier access to airline service at RDU."

The six round-trip daily shuttle service to RDU begins as early as 5 a.m. daily, returning as late as 10:30 p.m. A guaranteed seat must be reserved by calling
