Wilson Students Form 'Chain Of Unity'

Posted Updated

WILSON, N.C. — Hundreds of links formed a chain of unity Monday afternoon at Springfield Middle School near Wilson.

With the air full of patriotic music, students held pieces of paper that formed a massive chain. Students signed their names to the paper that filled four hallways in the building.

Teachers and students say it is the best way, they know of, to show that they are unified with the nation.

"It meant that everybody was united together and that instead of being like different religions and different ethnic groups, we were all joined together," said eighth-grader Nichole Bess.

The students also raised about $1,700 for victims of the attack. Several other schools in Wilson County are planning similar events this week.
