Durham Mayor Urges Tolerance In Wake Of Attacks

Posted Updated

DURHAM — Some Americans have worried about their own safety since the attacks -- because of the way they look and the clothes they wear.

Durham mayor Nick Tennyson spoke to a congregation of Sikhs in the Bull City Sunday. Tennyson says city leaders and police will not tolerate hate crimes against Sikhs or any other group. Sikhs have only two places of worship in North Carolina, and both are in Durham.

Members say their faith condemns violence of any kind and they just want to practice their beliefs in peace.
