RALEIGH — Thursday morning, the Triangle Chapter of The American Red Cross sent help to New York City to assist in the recovery efforts that continue after Tuesday's terrorist attack.
Richmond County resident Jim Owensby's help was requested by the Red Cross National Headquarters because of his Disaster Service Human Resource specialty, and he is also a transportation specialist. Owensby left Fayetteville at 12 p.m. Thursday.
Upon his arrival in New York, Owensby will ensure that the Red Cross emergency vehicles are coordinated and that logistical support is provided. This is the only request the Highlands chapter has received from national headquarters to date, but more are anticipated as the recovery efforts continue.
