N.C. State Opens Internet Research Lab On Centennial Campus

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — N.C. State opened its new Centaur research lab on Thursday.

The lab is designed to test ideas to drive the Internet in the future. The project is a collaboration between the university and a group of commercial technology businesses.

"In this lab, they are going to be testing the kinds of capabilities that we'll all be using five years from now. And that will let us do new things like DVD-quality video over the Internet," says Greg Wood of Internet2.

High-tech businesses donated space, equipment and expertise to bring the Centaur lab to life on Centennial Campus.
