Wilson Rallies In Support Of Firestone

Through the entire process, Wilson has stood behind its number one employer.

Hundreds of people packed into the Boykin Center Thursday night to show their support for Firestone.

More than 2,000 people work for the company, and the plant pumps $500 million into the city's economy every year.

"The school system would lose about $668,000 a year in revenues from taxes if Firestone wasn't here," says Milo Gibbs of the Wilson Chamber of Commerce.

Federal officials are threatening to recall another 10 million Firestone tires.

Community leaders are asking people to write letters to lawmakers in Washington. They say the federal government should look at a wide range of factors and consider the impact on the community before issuing any kind of recall.
