Shark Attack Victim Removed From Ventilator

Natalia Slobonskaya's left foot was severed in the attack in the waters off the coast of Avon in Dare County on Monday. She had been placed on a ventilator to help her breathing. She is listed in critical but stable condition at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Her boyfriend, Sergi Zaloukaev, died in the incident.

Beaches at Cape Hatteras, where the fatal attack occurred, are still open.
