Raleigh Teacher Charged With Soliciting Child
GREENSBORO — A Raleigh high school teacher was arrested in Greensboro on Friday for allegedly trying to solicit a child.

Scott Libert Hovey, a high school teacher with the Wake County Public School System, was arrested after detectives identified him in an undercover Internet chat room investigation.

He was attempting to solicit a child, according to Greensboro police.

Hovey, 26, was charged with Internet solicitation of a child for sexual activity, police said. He was arrested near the Four Seasons Town Center and placed in the Guilford County Jail under $25,000 bond.

The WCPSS suspended Hovey with pay, pending determination of his legal status, officials said.

Hovey has been employed by the WCPSS since August 2004 and has taught at Millbrook High School and Southeast Raleigh High School.

The investigation is continuing. Greensboro police asked that anyone with information related to their investigation contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 336-373-2255 or Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000.
