Delia was selected for the post by the Eastern Region board on June 8. He replaces Tom Greenwood, who resigned in February.
The Eastern Region, once called the Global TransPark Development Zone, covers Carteret, Craven, Duplin, Edgecombe, Greene, Jones, Lenoir, Nash, Onslow, Pamlico, Pitt, Wayne and Wilson counties.
Delia has acted as a lobbyist for ECU over the past three years. Earlier in his career he served as an associate vice chancellor and director of the Regional Development Institute at ECU.
Delia also worked in economic development in New Jersey and has acted as a political consultant.
The Eastern Region board selected Delia for the post just days after
a critical report
about management of the Eastern Region by the State Auditor's office.
