Suspect Arrested In Deaths Of Two Fayetteville Women

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Hope Mills man has been charged with the deaths of two women in a Fayetteville subdivision last weekend.

Fayetteville police arrested 18-year-old Michael McDonald late Wednesday evening in connection with the deaths of Andrea Scott and Monica Gacutan. WRAL has learned McDonald was Scott's ex-boyfriend. Authorities said a search warrant was also executed at his residence.

Scott, 17, and Gacutan, 37, were found dead inside their home in a gated community on June 10. A pass code is needed to enter the subdivision. On Tuesday, detectives found a Mercedes stolen from the house.

Authorities have not released the cause of death or a possible motive in the case. WRAL has learned that McDonald had a page on MySpace.com that features pictures of himself and Scott.

McDonald was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of felony larceny and two counts of possession of stolen goods. He is being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.
