DURHAM, N.C. — Convicted killer Mike Peterson has declared bankruptcy.
Peterson is serving a life sentence for killing his wife, Kathleen. Shortly after his conviction, a judge ruled he would be held liable for her death.
A civil trial to determine a damage amount was scheduled to start next Monday. It's now delayed indefinitely.
Peterson's stepdaughter, Caitlyn Atwater, filed the civil suit against him.
