Chapel Hill Restaurant Adds Off-Duty Officers To Staff

Posted Updated

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Dinner out means dining with the police at one Chapel Hill restaurant. Patio Loco on Franklin Street now employs off-duty officers to bolster safety.

The Chapel Hill Town Council is considering adding more officers to the force to increase police presence in the downtown area. In the meantime, the business is already seeing returns on its safety investment.

"Having a police presence here will deter crime," said Patio Loco owner LeRoy Pralta. "It will deter anyone when they know police are here patrolling in our front lot."

At their next budget session in the next month, Town Council members will vote on adding more officers to patrol the downtown commercial areas.
