SnowFin, a Provider of Remote Information Technology Services, Is Sold

, a provider of remote information technology services, has a new owner - but his face is a familiar one to the company's clients.

Timothy Wilson, a senior technical specialist at the company, purchased SnowFin from Steve Giles, a serial entrepreneur and the company's owner as well as co-founder.

Giles will remain with the company as chief technology officer.

"I'm excited about this opportunity and look forward to taking SnowFin to new heights while maintaining a superior level of customer service," Wilson said in a statement.

Before moving to North Carolina in 2005, Wilson owned TDWIL Systems in La Mesa, Ca. That firm focused on computer networking solutions.

"Tim has been an outstanding employee, and his leadership skills and experience as an IT business owner made him the perfect choice when I decided to sell the business," Giles said. "Our customers have been very pleased with Tim's commitment to excellent service and his easy-going demeanor since the day he came on board with SnowFin. He has some outstanding ideas for moving the company forward."

Giles founded SnowFin in the fall of 2002. Luke Rindfuss joined him as a co-founder a few months later. The two were also founders of Oculan Corporation and OpenNMS. Giles also launched Onion Peel Software in 1994, and Rindfuss later joined that firm.

SnowFin is named after a legendary albino dolphin that is said to have safely guided ships through the hazardous Outer Banks in the 1790s.
