Superior Court Judge Abraham Jones ruled on Thursday that Greg Bagley had a fair trial, despite his claims that Freda Black swayed testimony of his two co-defendants by feeding them and driving them around town.
Bagley also told the judge his original attorneys, Lawrence Campbell and Butch Williams, let him down, but Jones disagreed, telling Bagley he was lucky he did not get the death penalty.
Bagley is currently serving in prison for the shooting death of a tow truck driver in the early 1990s.
A former candidate for Durham County District Attorney, Black has denied any wrongdoing; Campbell and Williams have said they gave Bagley the best defense that was possible.
