APEX — Drivers might want to avoid one of the Triangle's busiest intersections for the next few days.
The
Department of Transportation
is closing U.S. 1 at the Highway 55 interchange for bridge construction.
Starting at midnight, northbound U.S. 1 will close at Highway 55 in Apex. The highway will remain closed until 6 a.m.
Work began Monday night with crews working overnight in southbound lanes.
Message boards and police officers will direct drivers around a detour.
