Two Arrested In Gang-Related Shooting Of A Bystander

DURHAM, N.C. — A bystander was shot on Sunday during a shootout between two groups of people, Durham police said.

The victim, a 65 year-old woman, suffered two gunshot wounds -- one in each thigh, police said. She was transported to Duke University Hospital.

Two suspects, Christopher McNeill 19, and Jerome Carter, 18, were arrested after the shooting which is believed to be gang-related, police said.

Police are looking for a third suspect in connection with the shooting.

The victim's name was not released by police.
