DURHAM, N.C. — A 10-year-old died Sunday afternoon after swimming in a Durham lake, authorities said.
The girl, Jasmine Boose of Elm City, was pronounced dead at about 4:22 p.m. on Sunday.
The Durham County Sheriff's Office said the girl went under water at a swimming area at the Rolling View Beach off of Baptist Road in Durham and was unconscious when she was rescued. Rescue crews were dispatched to the scene at about 3 p.m. The girl was taken to Duke Medical Center where she later died.
Boose was not wearing a life vest, authorities said.
No other information about the drowning was immediately available.
