2 Unsolved Murders Might Be Linked

The slayings of two men in Wake County last year might be connected, according to investigators.

Sam Haj-Hussein, 43, was found shot to death inside the In & Out Food Mart on Creech Road on May 12, 2006. Three weeks later, LeRoy Jernigan, 41, was cleaning the Circus Restaurant on Wake Forest Road when he was shot execution-style.

The Wake County Sheriff's Office is investigating Hussein's death. The Raleigh Police Department is handling Jernigan's case.

Investigators and Jernigan's family said they believe the cases could be linked.

Vehicles belonging to both men were stolen during the slayings, and police recovered the vehicles within a block of each other in west Raleigh.

"We believe that these two are connected and that, if we can find the people that are responsible for either one, that maybe we can get some closure into either one," said Chasity Jernigan, LeRoy Jernigan's sister.

Jernigan's family has prepared a flier with composite pictures of four men who they think might know something about one or both cases.

"You don't want it to be one of these cold case files and it not get solved until 20 years later," Jernigan said.

Garnerboy thank you for that comment this is chasity (leroy's baby sister) it is so kind to here comments like that THANK YOU that is what keeps up going! God Bless

It is a shame that we live in a time that human life seems to have so little value to some people. My wife and myself know many members of the jernigan family and it is a shame that this family has to suffer another loss at the hands of cowards. I went on a deep sea fishing trip with leRoy and his brother henry several years ago. On that trip I remember LeRoy talking about his love of fishing and family. It is a shame he was killed while working to support his family. The justice system needs to step up and make these criminals pay for what they put the victim's and families thru. God bless the jernigan family and maybe soon the person or person's will be caught.

God Bless you and yours Eric

What I want to say is that LeRoy Jernigan is my dad and I know what happened will come back on whom ever did this. But it has been a really hard year and there is nothing I can ever do to repay all of the people that have helped and to my family for being there for me.

Eric Jernigan

Yes we have done an interview with NCWANTED and hopefully they will air it soon. I think its a good show but I still think we need a specific show that constantly re-runs all the unsolved murders, Michelle Young, Samuel Haj-Hussein, LeRoy Jernigan, Jennifer Neilson, and any other I may have forgot over the years.
