Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — Crews were hard at work early Thursday evening after a tanker spilled a hazardous material at a Durham intersection.

Authorities said that the tanker leaked a small amount of ethyl acetate onto the roadway at Angier Avenue and Ellis Road around 3:30 p.m. Police and fire crews arrived at the scene and shut down the intersections, and hazardous spill personnel stopped the leak and contained the spill.

Authorities say that intersections at Angier Avenue and Midway Street, Angier Avenue and East End Avenue, and Ellis Road and Pettigrew Street remained closed until 7 p.m. as hazmat crews finished cleaning up the spill.
