CARY, N.C. — A 15-year-old boy from Cary High School is expected to appear in juvenile court Tuesday on charges he gave his 16-year-old friend a deadly combination of drugs.

Cary police say 16-year-old Erica Hicks died last fall after ingesting cocaine, methamphetamine and Ecstasy.

They say her 15-year-old friend knowingly gave her the drug.

The boy, whose name was not released, was charged as a juvenile with second-degree murder.

His defense team asked the judge to close Tuesday's hearing to the public.
