DURHAM, N.C. — Durham authorities are asking for the public's help as they continue to investigate the death of a Durham man found dead inside his business last week.

Police were dispatched to Growing Motors on Roxboro Road last Friday, where they found the body of James P. Morris, 77.

Morris, who was last seen alive at about 6 p.m. the night before, had been beaten, robbed and left for dead.

A white 1990 Oldsmobile Toronado with burgundy interior with North Carolina independent dealer tag

was also discovered to be missing, authorities said.

Morris was a long-time business owner, a Christian radio host and grandfather. Family members want to know who could have hurt him.

"Somebody walked in on a 77-year-old man and beat him to death and left him to die," said Morris' son, Reggie Morris. "And they're still out there."
