RALEIGH, N.C. — The man who police say murdered his aunt and stole her automobile has pleaded guilty to murder and will avoid the death penalty.

Investigators said Terry Taylor killed Betty Carey at her home in May 2005.

Taylor was later found in Connecticut in Carey's missing car.

He was initially held by police for possession of a stolen vehicle because the car had been entered by the Henderson Police Department in a nationwide police computer database.
