ORLANDO — Grant Hill's first public competition wassupposed to be in Saturday's Duke Basketball All-Star Charity Game, but officials with the Orlando Magic have nixed the plans.

Hill, who had ankle surgery in January, will still take part inthe weekend's activities, but won't play in the game.

Magic general manager John Gabriel says "return to professionalbasketball should come within the context of his currentrehabilitation and on-the-floor regimen." Gabriel added thatHill's return to his previous level is more important than anall-star game.

Hill missed all but four games of last season after signing aseven-year, $93 million contract with the Magic lastsummer.
