Authorities, Mother Want Answers In Death Of Nash County Girl

Posted Updated

ROCKY MOUNT — When a human skull was found in a Nash County cemetery a few weeks ago, investigators did not suspect murder, but autopsy results have proven otherwise.

Latesha McNair would have been 22 years old next month, but she will never celebrate that birthday. Her skull was discovered recently in a Nash County graveyard, seven months after she was reported missing.

Her mother, Ira, is having a tough time handling news of her daughter's death.

"I hope whoever did this to my daughter, I hope that they are punished the same way," she says.

Specially trained dogs are being used to search the graveyard and the surrounding woods for more bone fragments belonging to McNair. Investigators say they need more information from the public to figure out who took the young woman's life and get her killer off the street.

The investigating agencies are offering a $2,000 reward for information that leads to a conviction.
