Missing Wayne County Child Found; Father In Custody

Posted Updated

WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities said a man accused of abducting his 10-month-old daughter Friday afternoon surrendered to authorities with the child.

Carnice Terrell Warren, 23, was taken into custody in Johnston County early Friday evening and charged by Warren County authorities with four counts of assault and communicating threats. Warren's daughter, Tatianna Jones, was found unharmed.

Wayne County authorities said deputies were dispatched to a home on Duck Ridge Drive around 2 p.m., where Lacosta Renea Jones alleged that Warren, her ex-boyfriend, had been waiting for her when she arrived at the residence earlier in the day. He then allegedly took their daughter and assaulted Lacosta Jones as she tried to stop him. Warren allegedly called her shortly afterward and threatened to harm the child.

Shortly afterward, an Amber Report was issued for eastern North Carolina to help locate Tatianna Jones and Warren. Authorities say that around 5 p.m., a Johnston County attorney contacted Wayne County authorities and relayed information that led to the surrender of Warren.

Warren is being held at the Johnston County Detention Center. Authorities said that the child would be returned to her mother.
