Fayetteville Museum Kicks Off $1 Million Expansion

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville's Airborne and Special Operations Museum started its biggest expansion since opening six years ago.

The museum teamed up with the Smithsonian for the 2,000 sq. ft. project, which cost roughly $1 million. Currently, it's just storage space, but the museum plans to fill it with interactive displays.

At this point, the museum covers history up to about 1990. The new section will pick things up there and bring it to present day, covering Panama, the Balkans, and the war on terror.

The expansion shouldn't take long to finish. Crews plan to complete the project in September.
