Jury Finds Two Men Guilty Of Murdering State Lawmaker's Aunt

ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. — An Onslow County jury has returned a verdict in the case of two men charged with killing a prominent lawmaker's aunt.

The jury convicted Chris Bell and Antwan Sims of first-degree murder and two other charges. The verdict came down in just 31 minutes.

The two young men killed Elleze Kennedy, the aunt of Republican lawmaker Leo Daughtry. The sentencing phase will begin Thursday.

Both men could get the death penalty.
