Jury Selection Off To Slow Start In Gregory Lee Trial

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — There is another stumbling block in jury selection for the retrial of a young man charged with killing his elderly Durham neighbor.

A judge declared a mistrial in Gregory Lee's trial Tuesday. He is charged with killing 89-year-old Lois Cannady. During jury selection, a prospective juror said she remembered Lee because she said he tried to pass a forged check at a bank.

In September, a jury deadlocked on a murder charge.

Twenty people were excused Wednesday, which left only 10 potential jurors in the pool.

Lawyers will continue jury selection Thursday.
