Nash Authorities Look For Missing Man

NASH COUNTY, N.C. — Nash County sheriff's deputies are asking for the public's help in its search for a missing man.

Authorities said they have reason to believe Bill Mitchell, 60, was hitchhiking on N.C. Highway 581 near Mount Pleasant and may have been picked up from the area. He was last seen Tuesday afternoon near South Strickland Road in the town of Bailey.

In the picture released by authorities, Mitchell has surgical scars on his face. A deputy working the case told WRAL that most of those scars have healed.

Mitchell is an Alzheimer's patient. He has described as being 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing between 185 to 190 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue and white-striped polo shirt, dark blue jeans and light brown shoes.
