— Authorities have recovered the body of a man who drowned at Eno State Park.

Witnesses said Ian David Creath, 18, of Chapel Hill, was swimming with others at a quarry in the park around 7:30 pm. Monday. They told authorities they saw Creath jump in and begin swimming toward an inflatable raft when he suddenly called for help and went under.

The water in that part of the quarry is believed to be between 35 and 60 feet deep.

Dive teams from the Durham County’s Sheriff Office and Orange County Rescue Squad searched Monday night to no avail. They resumed the search Tuesday morning when they found Creath's body.

terrible, I know a family that lost their 18 year old son about 8 years ago to a drowning. Its never easy to lose a loved one, but when they have their whole life ahead of them, it is even tougher.
