Raleigh YWCA Hosts Meeting On Racial Profiling

RALEIGH — The YWCA in Raleigh held a forum Saturday to talk about the racial profiling of drivers.
"Driving While Black and Brown: Knowing Your Rights" educates drivers about their rights during traffic stops.
"We know that law enforcement does their job, and they typically do their job, but we need to create some type of avenue so that their can be some type of dialogue about the problems and solutions to racial profiling," said Shani Barrax, who is the YWCA's Racial Justice Coordinator.
The Highway Patrol is required to record the race of drivers they pull over. A provision in the state budget would expand that rule to local law enforcement.
