Durham Samaritan Injured While Trying To Aid Motorist

Posted Updated

DURHAM — A Good Samaritan who stopped to help someone in an accident on I-85 got more than she bargained for.

Investigators say Stella Sieber was struck and pinned against her car on Interstate 85 in Granville County Sunday night by 21-year-old Derrick Webb. Doctors had to amputate Sieber's legs. But her husband says thanks to the power of prayer, Sieber is recovering.

"My wife is recovering. She is doing better than everyone expected," said Ron Sieber.

The Siebers' church, Blacknall Memorial Presbyterian Church in Durham, is organizing volunteers to help the family in any way they can.
