No New Rules For Portable Storage Units In Raleigh

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — They aren't pretty, but they are convenient. On Tuesday, a Raleigh city committee decided not to create new rules to address portable storage units.

Under a temporary event ordinance, "Pods" and "Pack Rats" can stay in your driveway for 20 days. The owners of those companies say the average length is about 24 days.

The city committee took up the issue after residents complained about a huge orange freight container in a West Raleigh neighborhood. The committee says that it should not be considered in the same category as a portable storage unit.
